How can I re-send an assignment (grant an extension) to my student when they submit it accidentally?

If you are a faculty member and your student has submitted an assignment accidentally and needs to get it back for editing, please follow the following process for granting an extension:

For Course Assignments:

  1. From the Tk20 homepage, click on the Courses tab
  2. Click on the link to your Course Number
  3. Click on the Activities tab
  4. Click on the link to your Course Assignment
  5. This is where you will see a list of your students and the status of their assignment (Open for Editing, Assessment Pending, etc.). Directly to the left of your student's name, you will see a radio button and a red "pending" flag, which indicates that your student has submitted their assignment and it is now available to be assessed. Near the top of the Student Submissions tab, you will also see a grey icon that says "grant extension." Click on the radio button next to your student's name and then click on this "grant extension" icon.
  6. On the window that appears, DO NOT select "Yes" where it asks you to revoke the assignment. The default option is "No" -- do not change this.
  7. Enter a new due date and time
  8. Enter text into the Comments area (this can simply be "extension granted" or any generic text)
  9. Click on "Grant Extension" at the end of the form
  10. Your student will now be able to edit their assignment

For Field Experience Assignments:

  1. From the Tk20 homepage, click on the Field Experience tab
  2. This is where you will see a full list of the students in your field experience course. Click on the name of the student who needs their assignment re-opened
  3. On the right-hand side of the split screen, click on the Extensions tab
  4. Click the "Grant Extension" icon
  5. Enter a new due date and time
  6. Enter text into the Comments area (this can simply be "extension granted" or any generic text)
  7. Click on "Grant Extension"
  8. Your student will now be able to edit their assignment
